Lucknow: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP and the Election Commission of India of alleged irregularities in the state’s electoral rolls, demanding transparency in the addition and deletion of voter names ahead of the next Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Singh alleged that Uttar Pradesh was witnessing a pattern of voter manipulation similar to what his party had claimed in Delhi and West Bengal. He called for the complete publication of newly added voter names and a fair investigation into applications seeking deletions.

Citing figures attributed to the Election Commission, Singh said Uttar Pradesh had 15.44 crore registered voters before the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), during which approximately 2.90 crore names were reportedly deleted. He said 84 lakh applications were received for adding names and 4.30 lakh for deletions.
Singh questioned the discrepancy between the 84 lakh applications and the publicly reported addition of 71.13 lakh names, asking the Commission to clarify the status and details of the remaining 12.87 lakh names. He alleged that 13 lakh fraudulent votes had been added through the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. These allegations were not independently verified.
Questions Over Form-7 Applications
Singh alleged that around 85,000 voter names had been deleted without reasons being specified in the applications. He questioned how such deletions were approved and raised concerns over reportedly auto-generated Form-7 applications, which are used to seek the removal of names from electoral rolls.
He also questioned how 1,10,476 applications seeking voter deletions were received after the deadline had expired, demanding an explanation from the Election Commission.
Citing the Tarabganj Assembly constituency in Gonda district, Singh said 188 applications seeking voter deletions had allegedly been submitted in the name of a woman identified as Reshma, whose whereabouts and identity he claimed could not be established during inquiries.
He also listed several other cases in which large numbers of deletion applications were allegedly filed under individual names. According to figures presented by Singh, these included 237 applications attributed to Baburam, of which 212 reportedly concerned Muslim voters; 188 attributed to Reshma, including 174 Muslim voters; and 124 attributed to Nisha, including 109 Muslim voters.
Other examples cited included 112 applications attributed to Dheeraj Kumar Bharti, 75 to Kumar Kamlesh, 66 to Brij Mohan, 62 to Devdutt, 61 to Adarsh Kumar Pandey and 59 to Jasbandh. Singh also cited 56 applications allegedly submitted in the name of Narendra Kumar Tiwari in Pilibhit, 50 of which reportedly concerned Muslim voters.

He demanded an impartial investigation into these cases, alleging that the pattern raised concerns about possible targeting of Muslim voters. The figures and allegations presented at the press conference could not be independently verified.
Seeks Booth-Level Transparency
Singh also questioned statements attributed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary regarding the addition of voters during the revision exercise. He demanded that the Election Commission publish booth-wise figures for newly registered voters and disclose the supporting documents.
Referring to the Delhi Assembly elections, Singh said AAP had previously raised concerns over applications seeking the deletion of large numbers of voters under individual names but claimed that the complaints had not received an effective response.
Warning that similar controversies could affect Uttar Pradesh, he urged opposition parties to unite in demanding transparency. He said electoral outcomes could be influenced by relatively small vote margins and argued that protecting voting rights was a matter of public interest beyond any single political party.
Seeks Relief for Faizullaganj Flood Victims
Separately, Singh expressed concern over conditions in Lucknow’s Faizullaganj area following flooding. He urged the state government to provide immediate assistance to affected families and improve access to ambulances, healthcare, food supplies, sanitation and transportation.
AAP demanded a fair investigation into the allegations concerning electoral rolls, public disclosure of complete records of voter additions and deletions, and immediate relief for flood-affected residents of Faizullaganj.
The Election Commission’s response to the allegations was not included in the information provided for this report.
