Russian diplomat expelled on charges of espionage

Moscow: Russia has expelled a British diplomat on charges of espionage. This step will further fuel hostility between the two countries. The FSB security service says that the British diplomat accused of espionage had deliberately given false information about himself before entering Russia. The diplomat’s name is Edward Wilkes. His photo has been shown on TV channels.

The Russian agency issued a statement saying that the diplomat was involved in such intelligence and anti-Russian work that it could pose a threat to Russia’s security. Britain has denied Russia’s allegations. A spokesman for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “We deny these baseless allegations. We will respond at the appropriate time.” The Russian embassy in Moscow has also remained silent in this regard.

Protest lodged by sending summons to the British ambassador

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the ministry has lodged protest by sending summons to the British ambassador. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was quoted as saying that the FSB says that the accused British diplomat had replaced six British diplomats expelled this year. All of them were also accused of espionage.

Ukraine is attacking Russia with American missiles

Russia has claimed that Ukraine is attacking it with American missiles. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Ukraine has targeted Russia twice in the last three days with US-made ATACMS missiles. Russia is preparing to take revenge.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, both the attacks were carried out targeting Russian military bases in the Kursk region. The first attack was carried out on November 23. Two of the five missiles were fired at the Russian air defense system S-400. It damaged its radar system. While the second attack was carried out on November 25.

Kursk-Vostochny Airport was targeted with eight missiles. One missile reached the target and two soldiers were injured. There is also a military airbase here. The situation is under control and preparations are being made for retaliation.

Meanwhile, analysts and war bloggers said that the Russian army is moving at a fast pace in Ukraine. It has captured an area equal to half of London in Ukraine during the last one month. Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022. Since then, its pace of advance in Ukraine has been fast.

Russian journalist jailed for four years

A court in eastern Russia on Tuesday sentenced a female journalist to four years in prison. 24-year-old Nika Novak was convicted of working for a foreign organization. Novak previously worked for the US government-funded Radio Free Europe.
