Bareilly: The 21-day ‘Deeksharambh-2026’ orientation programme for newly admitted first-year B.Tech students at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, concluded with a cultural evening and award ceremony.
Held under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the programme was aimed at familiarising students with the university, its departments and academic facilities while supporting their overall development. The 21-day schedule featured lectures, sports activities, cultural programmes, technical competitions, quizzes and awareness sessions designed to promote creativity, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anil Kumar Rai. Certificates were also presented to students who participated in various workshops organised under the Summer Outreach Programme.
Welcoming the students, FET Dean Prof. Archana Gupta said Deeksharambh was more than a formal introduction to university life and provided an opportunity to develop students’ personalities, talents and capabilities. She encouraged them to participate actively in creative and co-curricular activities alongside academics.
Addressing the students, Prof. Rai said the university’s objective was not merely to award degrees but to equip students with knowledge, skills, values and confidence to become responsible citizens. He encouraged them to recognise their talents, learn from setbacks, continue learning and contribute to society and national development.
The cultural evening featured a series of student performances. Jharsh presented a flute performance, while Ekroop Kaur performed on the mandolin. Saksham, Priya and Nancy delivered solo performances. A fusion dance by B.Tech students was a major attraction and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Faculty members, heads of various departments, university officials and teachers attended the ceremony. Students who excelled in different activities were presented awards and certificates at the conclusion of the programme, marking an energetic end to the orientation initiative.
