Rohilkhand University proves its worth in unique Trainers Mahakumbh

Bareilly: The “Indian Association of Teacher Educators (IATE),” India’s largest and oldest professional organization for teacher trainers, was established on November 25, 1950, at M.S. University, Baroda, by renowned educationists such as Late Professor T.K.N. Menon, Late Professor Hansaben Mehta, and Late Professor S.N. Mukherjee. Today, the prestigious institution boasts over 5,500 lifetime members from across the country.

The 57th Annual Conference of IATE was held from February 20 to 22 at the Department of Education, Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, with the participation of over 350 teacher educators nationwide. IATE conducts elections for various organizational positions every two years, and this year witnessed a historic achievement by the faculty and students of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University.

For the first time in IATE’s history, three faculty members from the same institution were elected to various key positions. Professor B.R. Kukreti was elected as Senior Vice President, Professor Yashpal Singh as Vice President, and Professor N.N. Pandey as Treasurer. Additionally, former student Professor Kaushal Kishore, currently Head of the Department of Education at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, was elected as the General Secretary of IATE. Another former student, Professor Sunil Kumar, serving at A.N.D. College, Sitapur, was appointed as the Northern Zone Secretary, while Professor Sunil Kumar Joshi from Vardhaman College, Bijnor, was elected as an Executive Committee member.

These appointments have brought immense pride and joy to the university’s Department of Education. The faculty, including Dean Professor Sumitra Kukreti, Head of Department Professor Santosh Arora, Senior Professor Anju Agarwal, Dr. Tarun Rashtriya, Dr. Rambabu Singh, Dr. Kirti Prajapati, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Vimal Kumar, and Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Singh, honored the elected members with garlands and extended their heartfelt congratulations.

It is noteworthy that Professor Yashpal Singh also successfully fulfilled the role of Election Officer in these elections. During the conference, Professor B.R. Kukreti actively participated in various activities as the General Secretary, while Professor N.N. Pandey continued his responsibilities as Treasurer and also took part in a panel discussion. Additionally, Professor Yashpal Singh chaired another panel discussion on inclusive education, further contributing to the success of the event.
