– Mayor Inaugurates the Construction of a 638-Meter-Long Drain
Lucknow: There is good news for the residents and shopkeepers of Bhootnath Market, who have been struggling with waterlogging issues for a long time. To provide a permanent solution, the construction of a 638-meter-long drain has been initiated. On Monday, Lucknow Mayor Smt. Sushma Kharkwal laid the foundation stone for the construction of the drain.
As part of this major project, the drain will be constructed from in front of the Bhootnath Underground Parking, passing through Bhootnath Metro Station, Babyian Restaurant, and connecting to a wider drain near Lekhraj Dollar. The project is targeted for completion by the end of June, ensuring relief from waterlogging for residents and businesses during the upcoming monsoon season.

Several prominent figures attended the inauguration event, including Regional Councilor Shri Ashok Upadhyay, Chief Engineer Mahesh Verma, Zonal Officer Shri Akash Kumar, and XEN Shri Ashok Yadav, along with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation team. Additionally, Uttam Kapoor, Senior Vice President of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal, Devendra Gupta, President of Bhootnath Vyapar Mandal, Arvind Pathak, Acting President, and Vice President Nadeem Khan, along with other distinguished citizens, were present.

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal emphasized that waterlogging in Bhootnath Market and surrounding areas has been a persistent problem for years, causing inconvenience to local traders and residents. The construction of this drain aims to provide a long-term solution, ensuring that waterlogging issues do not arise in the future.
Local Representatives and Business Associations Welcome the Initiative
Regional Councilor Shri Ashok Upadhyay expressed optimism about the project, stating that residents and business owners will experience significant relief once the drain is completed. He also urged the municipal authorities and departments to ensure timely completion of the work.
