Property recovered from criminals to help comfort the poor

Lucknow: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh continuously brings out new rules and schemes for the comfort of the poor and the needy. The Yogi government’s bulldozer keeps running on the property acquired from crime. Now the state government has brought out a new rule. The property acquired from criminals will be confiscated and distributed among the victims. For this, SOP has also been issued by DGP Prashant Kumar.

DM can give orders soon

Let us tell you that this SOP has been issued under section 107, 107 (6) of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). Under this section, if the accused does not give any reply in 14 days regarding the property confiscated, then the court can give a one-sided order. Such property can be distributed to the people affected by the crime. The DM can give orders in this matter soon. According to the SoP, the DM will have to issue instructions to distribute the property among the victims.

The government is building houses for the needy on the confiscated properties. According to the SOP, on the orders of the court, the DM can auction such confiscated properties, or distribute them among the victims of crime within 2 months. In such cases, the police will have to take permission from the captain or police commissioner and file an application in the court. After which the court will consider the explanation given by the accused, then it can issue orders for confiscation of the property. Till now the Yogi government is building houses for the needy on the confiscated properties.
