Bhagalpur, Bihar – Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bihar on Monday for a one-day visit, where he delivered a major financial boost to farmers across the country. From Bhagalpur, known as the Silk City, PM Modi released the 19th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, transferring over ₹21,500 crore to more than 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also present on the stage during the event.
A Grand Welcome for PM Modi
Before addressing the gathering at Bhagalpur Airport Ground, PM Modi made a unique entry. He, along with CM Nitish Kumar, stood in a decorated open vehicle and greeted thousands of people on their way to the stage. The massive crowd welcomed them with cheers and slogans.
PM Kisan Nidhi: ₹21,500 Crore Transferred to Farmers
As part of the PM-Kisan scheme, PM Modi transferred ₹21,500 crore to farmers across the country, providing crucial financial assistance. In addition, the Prime Minister virtually inaugurated the Excellence Center for Indigenous Cattle Breeds in Motihari, established under the National Gokul Mission.
This center will focus on training farmers in advanced breeding techniques and promoting the breeding of indigenous cattle breeds. Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated a milk processing plant in Barauni, aimed at providing a structured market for three lakh dairy farmers.
Launch of Key Infrastructure Projects
During the event, PM Modi also inaugurated several infrastructure projects in Bihar, including:
- Doubling of the Warisaliganj-Nawada-Tilaiya railway line
- Ismailpur-RafiGanj Road Overbridge
These projects, worth over ₹526 crore, are expected to boost connectivity and economic growth in the region.
The event saw the presence of several key political figures, including Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Giriraj Singh, Chirag Paswan, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha.
With this visit, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting farmers and improving infrastructure in Bihar.
