On International Tea Day, Yaadein Cast Shares Their Heartwarming Connection With Chai

Mumbai: In India, tea is far more than just a beverage — it is a feeling deeply connected to daily life, conversations, comfort and togetherness. Whether it’s an early morning ritual, an evening break or a quiet family moment, a simple cup of chai often carries memories and emotions that stay close to the heart.

Celebrating this spirit on International Tea Day, actors from Yaadein opened up about their personal bond with tea and the special memories associated with it.

Sharing his thoughts, Iqbal Khan, who plays Dr. Dev Mehta in the show, said tea reminds him of home and family moments in Kashmir. He shared that although he may not drink tea every day, noon chai becomes an important part of his routine whenever he visits his parents. Enjoying tea with fresh Kashmiri bakery treats alongside family members brings him comfort and nostalgia, making those moments especially meaningful.

Actor Arjun Punjj, who portrays Diggy, described himself as a lifelong tea lover. He recalled how his fondness for chai began in childhood while watching his mother enjoy several cups throughout the day. Some of his warmest memories include sitting beside her, dipping biscuits into tea and cherishing those quiet moments together.

Arjun added that over time, chai has become an inseparable part of his everyday life. He also shared that his wife, Gurdip Punjj, who once preferred coffee, gradually developed a love for tea because of him. According to the actor, chai has a unique way of bringing people closer.

Meanwhile, Srishti Singh, who essays the role of Dr. Vaani, said she may not drink tea regularly, but whenever she longs for comfort or misses home, nothing compares to a cup of tea made by her mother. She described “maa ke haath ki chai” as something that carries warmth, care and the comforting feeling of home in every sip.

Through their personal stories, the cast reflected how tea continues to remain an emotional and cultural symbol of connection, comfort and shared memories in Indian households.

Sony SAB’s Yaadein airs Monday to Saturday at 8 PM.
