Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed senior IAS officer Neha Sharma as the new Director General of Medical Education (DGME) and Secretary, Medical Education, as part of a major administrative reshuffle involving 20 IAS officers across the state.
Neha Sharma, who was serving as the Inspector General of Registration, will now head the state’s medical education department. She replaces Dr. Sarika Mohan, who has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Registration.
The appointments were announced as part of a broader bureaucratic reorganization aimed at strengthening governance across multiple departments.
Among the key transfers, Sudha Verma, Secretary in the Revenue Department, has been posted as Labour Commissioner. Arun Kumar, Additional Director of Geology and Mining, has been appointed Mission Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, while J. Reebha, Special Secretary in the Geology and Mining Department, has been given additional charge as Additional Director of the department.
Deepa Ranjan, who previously served as Mission Director of the State Rural Livelihood Mission, has been appointed Special Secretary, Culture Department. Sanjay Kumar Singh-I has been relieved of his responsibilities as Special Secretary, Culture, and has been assigned additional charge as Director of Culture, Uttar Pradesh.

In another significant change, Riya Kejriwal, Managing Director of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (MVVNL), Lucknow, has been appointed Special Secretary, Department of Child Development and Nutrition. Sandeep Bhagia, Additional Commissioner of State Tax, has been named the new Managing Director of MVVNL.
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of several district-level officers. Parikshit Khatana, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Azamgarh, has been posted as Additional Commissioner of State Tax, Gautam Buddha Nagar, while Rakesh Kumar Patel takes over as the new CDO of Azamgarh. Jag Pravesh, Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation, has been appointed Special Secretary in the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, and Ojasvi Raj, CDO of Ballia, will succeed him as Municipal Commissioner.
Additional changes include the appointment of Alok Kumar as Chief Development Officer of Ballia, Ajay Kumar Gautam as Additional Commissioner of State Tax, Ghaziabad, Sanjay Kumar Singh as CDO of Etawah, Manikandan A. as Additional Land Management Commissioner in the Board of Revenue, and Dr. Vandana Verma receiving additional charge as Joint Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation Limited.
The appointment of Neha Sharma to lead the Medical Education Department is expected to play a key role in steering Uttar Pradesh’s medical education reforms, expansion of healthcare infrastructure, and implementation of academic and institutional development initiatives across the state’s government medical colleges and teaching hospitals.
