LU students to get a ringside view of politics on Ground Zero

Lucknow: Under the patronage and directions of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, a Departmental Committee of the Department of Political Science was held this afternoon wherein a study regarding political decision-making and its antecedents to be conducted in Eastern UP was discussed and deliberated threadbare.

During this meeting, a detailed plan was chalked out, and a team of 5 faculty members and 4 researchers, representing as group leaders of other researchers, will visit this region from May 25 to 27, 2024.

These dates have been decided in keeping with the fact that political campaigning and activity will be at its peak, both within and outside the institutions during this period. Besides, during these days, the study group will also have the opportunity to meet and talk to the party candidates contesting elections. This way, the study group will have an opportunity to understand the political landscape and get a firsthand impression of the public mood in select districts of Eastern UP, viz. Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, etc.

In pursuance of their objective to study the voting behavior of the electorate, the students of higher education institutions of the region are proposed to be visited. The group will prepare its report and submit it to university on the same day.

To make the study systematic, there will be a questionnaire to be asked of the respondents in the three institutions. Sampling and other research techniques will be applied to our study.
