Lucknow: Final year students of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow University have designed Composite Wall Thermal Conductivity Test Rig and Hagen Poiseuille apparatus to contribute to the department. This equipment will be used by Mechanical Engineering students in Heat and Mass Transfer and Fluid Mechanics laboratory respectively.
Using Composite Wall Thermal Conductivity Test Rig, one can find out the thermal conductivity and thermal resistance of any material and in Hagen Poiseuille set up, students can calculate heat loss in laminar flow while fluid is flowing through circular pipe and can also verify Hagen Poiseuille equation. The market price of both the equipment is above 2 lakhs, however, the students built both the equipment within Rs. 25,000 using the resources available at the Central Workshop of Faculty of Engineering and Technology under the guidance of Assistant Professor Engr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta and Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav.
Among these students, Deepali Singh, Ayush Chaudhary, Pratham, Pradyuman Singh and Himanshu Yadav made composite wall equipment and Abdul Tahir, Pankaj Yadav, Avnish Singh and Sameer made Hagen Poiseuille set up. In the presence of all the teachers of the department, the coordinator of the department Dr. Kamlesh Tiwari and the Dean of the Faculty Professor A.K. Singh honored the students and wished them a bright future.
