Lucknow Super Giants'

Lucknow: Lucknow Super Giants’ newly appointed mentor and former international fast bowler, Zaheer Khan, arrived in Lucknow and spoke to the media about the impact of Rishabh Pant joining the team.

Rishabh Pant Has Nothing to Prove as Captain

Zaheer Khan emphasized that Lucknow Super Giants’ new captain, Rishabh Pant, does not need to prove anything. Apart from his explosive batting, Pant has also demonstrated excellent leadership skills in the IPL. He will play a crucial role for LSG in the upcoming season. Khan expressed confidence that Pant will leave a significant mark as captain. Speaking at the team’s camp at Ekana Stadium, Zaheer Khan said that victories and defeats in the IPL often have marginal differences, and players must move forward with that mindset. He added that Pant will have a dual responsibility, but he has previously showcased his leadership abilities.

No Rush Regarding Mayank Yadav

When asked about Mayank Yadav, who impressed with his bowling in the previous IPL season, Zaheer Khan stated that the team wants Mayank to be available for all matches in the upcoming season. Currently, he is recovering his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Khan believes Mayank is the future of Indian bowling, and the team does not want to put unnecessary pressure on him. If he regains full fitness, he will certainly play for Lucknow Super Giants.

Squad Strength and Auction Success

Zaheer Khan asserted that the team has no shortage of strong players. He stressed that the players will be given full freedom to perform without unnecessary pressure. He mentioned that the franchise had a successful auction, acquiring powerful batsmen and effective bowlers. Apart from Mayank Yadav, Khan expects notable performances from Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi. Additionally, Mohsin Khan and Akashdeep could also play crucial roles for LSG.

Initial Phase of IPL Preparation

Tuesday marked the first gathering of Lucknow Super Giants players at their home ground. Khan stated that no specific plans have been made yet, and the team is still working on finding the right combination for the playing eleven. The primary goal of this training camp is to bring the squad together and provide structured training. More such camps will be organized in the future as part of the overall preparation.

Pakistan’s Weak Chances in Champions Trophy

Zaheer Khan also commented on the upcoming Champions Trophy, stating that Pakistan has minimal chances of reaching the semi-finals, considering their recent performances. According to him, India, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand are the top contenders to make it to the final four.

All Players Are Match-Winners: Justin Langer

During the press conference, LSG’s head coach and legendary Australian batsman, Justin Langer, emphasized that the team has acquired several outstanding players for the next season. He refused to single out any particular player, stating that every squad member is a match-winner capable of turning games around. Langer expressed hope that all players will deliver their best performances in the upcoming IPL season.
