Varanasi: Despite receiving just 1.6 mm of rainfall, Varanasi continued to experience hot and humid weather on Wednesday, with intense sunshine reminding residents of the scorching conditions typically seen during May and June.
Bright sunshine from the morning hours pushed up temperatures and humidity levels, making outdoor conditions uncomfortable throughout the day. The brief spell of rain offered little relief, as the combination of heat and moisture led to oppressive weather across the city.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather is expected to change over the next two days. A developing low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to influence weather conditions across eastern Uttar Pradesh, bringing increased cloud cover, thunderstorms, rainfall and gusty winds.
The anticipated change is expected to lower daytime temperatures and provide relief from the prevailing humidity.
Weather experts have advised residents to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, stay well hydrated and remain alert to changing weather conditions, including the possibility of thunderstorms and rain. Authorities have urged people to take necessary precautions while travelling or engaging in outdoor activities until the weather stabilizes.
