Kunal Kapoor Turns Screenwriter, Completes Three Feature Scripts Across Action, Romance and Comedy

Mumbai: Actor Kunal Kapoor has taken a creative leap beyond acting, revealing that he has completed three original feature-length screenplays after deciding to write the kind of stories he wanted to see on screen.

Sharing the update on social media, Kapoor said he chose to create opportunities for himself rather than wait for the right roles to come along.

“I couldn’t find the work I was excited about, so I decided to write it. Three ideas that have been rattling around in my head are now three finished screenplays. Not outlines, not ideas—full scripts,” he wrote.

The actor disclosed that the projects span three distinct genres—action, romance, and comedy—allowing him to explore very different creative spaces.

“Three different worlds that gave me a chance to live in three different headspaces. The hardest fun I’ve had in a while. Now the challenging part is finding the right people to build them with,” he added.

Kapoor also hinted that his creative momentum shows no signs of slowing down, joking that a fourth story has already begun demanding his attention.

“Idea number four is already refusing to leave me alone,” he wrote.

While embarking on his screenwriting journey, Kapoor also has a busy acting slate ahead. He is set to portray Indra in director Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana, scheduled for a Diwali release, with the film’s trailer launching on July 18 at Bharat Mandapam. He will also appear alongside Telugu cinema legend Chiranjeevi in the fantasy drama Vishwambhara, slated for release later this year.

With three completed screenplays ready for development and two major films on the horizon, Kapoor is expanding his creative portfolio, demonstrating his interest in storytelling both in front of and behind the camera.
