Lucknow: Security personnel at Jan Bhavan presented a powerful and moving theatrical performance depicting the life, revolutionary journey and contribution to India’s freedom struggle of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
The play was staged at the Gandhi Auditorium of Jan Bhavan under the inspiration of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel. It traced Bhagat Singh’s journey from childhood to his emergence as a revolutionary and his struggle against British rule. The performance also highlighted the role of the Hindustan Republican Association in the freedom movement and brought alive the contributions of revolutionaries including Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Batukeshwar Dutt.
The portrayal of the revolutionaries’ resistance to British rule, their courage and patriotism, and their ultimate sacrifice moved the audience. Their willingness to embrace the gallows for the country was presented with considerable emotional impact.
Special Officer to the Governor, Dr Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, said that over the past seven years, under the Governor’s guidance, Jan Bhavan security personnel had been provided opportunities not only to perform their security duties but also to develop their talents and showcase them on stage.
Appreciating the performance, Bobde said such programmes inspire values of patriotism, sacrifice and dedication to duty. He added that Jan Bhavan would continue to organise creative and cultural programmes in the future.
Bobde personally interacted with the artists and congratulated them for delivering an impressive performance despite having limited time for preparation. The play was directed by Section Officer of the Jan Bhavan Secretariat, Kamal Yadav.
Officials and employees of Jan Bhavan attended the programme and appreciated the performance.
