Mumbai: Jack Doohan, an academy driver, was promoted to the squad for the 2025 Formula One season by Alpine, adding another member to the roster.

“I’m delighted to have been promoted to a full-time racing position in 2025. I am very appreciative of the top management’s faith and confidence in me. Doohan stated in a statement, “There is a lot of work ahead to be ready and prepared, and I will do my best in the meantime to acquire as much information and expertise as possible to be ready for the step up.

After Esteban Ocon, a French driver, announced his intention to join Haas for the next season, the Australian will take his place. After spending two years with Alpine, Doohan will be joining the squad. Oliver Bearman of Haas will be the other rookie on the grid.

“I’m only trying to ensure that I’m more prepared than before in case I have to get in the automobile. And then I can make sure we perform to the best of our abilities and that I make the most of it, particularly for when I do eventually become a full-time driver,” he said.

Before moving to Alpine in 2022, Doohan participated in Red Bull’s driving school from 2017 to 21. In Formula 2, he began his career as a rookie and was designated as the team’s backup driver in 2023. During his tenure at Alpine, Doohan has driven in various practice sessions, the most recent of which was held at Silverstone this year, and taken part in multiple tests at current F1 sites.

Jack and I collaborated back in 2019, so I am well aware of his untapped skills and potential. Oliver Oakes, team principal, said, “He is a very hard worker behind the scenes and his commitment is hugely valued by the entire team.” “To continue improving the car and move the team up the grid, we look forward to working with both Jack and Pierre.”
