Innovation and Research Will Make India a Global Superpower: CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh emerging as a global innovation hub; ₹1,000 crore fund established for youth self-reliance

Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that innovation and research are the key drivers that will transform India into a global superpower. Addressing the Samsung Innovation Campus Certificate Ceremony at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Gorakhpur, he emphasized that technology, innovation, and solution-oriented thinking are shaping India’s new global identity.

Highlighting the remarkable progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years, CM Yogi said, “There was a time when India faced an identity crisis. Corruption dominated governance and the youth struggled for recognition. Today, India stands tall as a major global force, thanks to visionary leadership and transformative reforms.”

UP Leading India’s Innovation Journey

The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a global innovation hub, with the state government creating a ₹1,000 crore fund to promote youth entrepreneurship and self-reliance. “Through initiatives like Startup India, Digital India, and PM Stand-Up, the nation is not only advancing technologically but also strengthening its economic foundation,” he noted.

Technology as a Tool for Ease of Living

Calling on students and young innovators to focus on emerging technologies, CM Yogi said, “Technology can greatly enhance the ease of living. Innovation must aim to make everyday life simpler and more efficient.” He urged educational institutions to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in a time-bound manner, as it aligns education with skill development and modern technological needs.

Underlining the state’s efforts, he shared that over 150 ITIs have partnered with Tata Technologies to provide modern vocational training. “Our aim is to link knowledge with practical experience because applied knowledge is what drives real progress,” he added.

Encouraging Problem-Solving Over Complaint Culture

Adopting a mentor-like tone, CM Yogi advised students to move beyond blaming systems for problems. “It has become a habit to criticize the system for everything. But success lies in finding solutions, not excuses. Progress comes from initiative, not evasion,” he said, citing examples like traffic discipline and environmental management.

On pollution and environmental challenges, the Chief Minister noted, “Even cities like Delhi have turned into gas chambers due to human negligence. Despite awareness and resources, issues like stubble burning and waste mismanagement persist. Real progress depends on collective responsibility.”

Empowering the Youth: From Skill to Startup

CM Yogi said the Samsung Innovation Campus is playing a crucial role in empowering youth toward self-reliance. “This platform allows young minds to connect with industry, gain skills, and launch their startups. The government is fully supporting such initiatives,” he said.

He highlighted that 50–60% of Uttar Pradesh’s workforce comprises youth, giving the state a decisive advantage in shaping India’s future. The Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, under which two crore youth are receiving tablets and smartphones, is further strengthening digital inclusion and skill development.

UP: India’s Manufacturing Powerhouse

CM Yogi proudly noted that 55% of India’s mobile phones and 60% of electronic devices are manufactured in Uttar Pradesh. “Samsung chose UP as its manufacturing brand ambassador and established its largest global plant in Noida. This reflects global trust in the state’s potential and workforce,” he said.

“Nations That Invest in Innovation Will Lead the Future”

Congratulating the 1,300 students who received certificates, CM Yogi said, “Only those nations that focus on innovation, research, and development will emerge as superpowers. The stronger our emphasis on innovation, the greater our strength.” He also appealed for stronger industry-academia partnerships to create internship opportunities and promote startups.

Global Recognition for UP’s Innovation Ecosystem

Speaking at the event, J.B. Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, praised CM Yogi’s leadership, stating, “Uttar Pradesh is becoming a global innovation hub. Samsung is proud to train 5,000 youth from the state this year as part of its Innovation Campus program.”

Vinod Sharma, Chairperson of the Electronics Sector Skill Council of India, commended CM Yogi for his constant guidance and support in skill development. “Under his leadership, Uttar Pradesh’s youth are gaining digital empowerment and contributing to India’s tech-driven future,” he said.

Prof. Poonam Tandon, Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, lauded the initiative, saying, “Under CM Yogi’s vision, UP’s youth are advancing from skills to innovation and innovation to employment, playing a pivotal role in nation-building.”

The event also saw participation from MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, MLA Vipin Singh, and several other dignitaries, along with hundreds of students and Samsung Innovation Campus trainees.
