Lucknow: Former Acting Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Chairman of the Organisation for Nuclear Disarmament, World Peace and Environment (ONDWPE), Dr Ammar Rizvi, has welcomed the signing of the India–United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), describing it as a landmark achievement that will significantly strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
In a press statement, Dr Rizvi said he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, conveying his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the successful conclusion of the agreement.
In his message, Dr Rizvi stated that the historic trade pact would usher in a new era of cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, technology, innovation, education, healthcare, manufacturing and services. He said the agreement is expected to reinforce the economies of both countries, substantially increase bilateral trade and create new employment opportunities.
Highlighting the longstanding ties between India and the United Kingdom, Dr Rizvi said the two nations share deep historical, cultural and democratic links. He expressed confidence that the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement would further strengthen mutual trust, friendship and cooperation while elevating bilateral relations to new heights.
Dr Rizvi also expressed optimism that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, India and the United Kingdom would not only achieve greater economic progress but also play a constructive role in promoting global peace, international cooperation, interfaith harmony and intercultural understanding.
Congratulating both leaders once again, he wished the two countries continued prosperity, sustained economic growth and stronger strategic ties in the years ahead.
