Mumbai: It wouldn’t be wrong to call the multi-hyphenate actor R Madhavan aka Maddy the man with the Midas touch as his box office record proves that he has never had a flop in his career so far. His latest release ‘Shaitaan’ is an example of how the actor’s touch turns every project into a box office gold. The actor, who rose to fame as Maddy with ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’, impressed audience as Farhan Qureshi in ‘3 Idiots’ and became the highlight of ‘Rang De Basanti’ with his extended cameo role, scared the audience to death with his role in ‘Shaitaan’, and delivered a hit that has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office.
Not just box office, Madhavan is also ruling audience’s hearts for his impeccable performance in ‘Shaitaan’. “R Madhavan’s performance in ‘Shaitaan’ is so convincing that I actually started to dislike him for a moment,” a fan wrote, while another wrote, “Who knew cutu R Madhavan could be this scary.” Another social media user wrote, “Whole movie becomes best whenever R Madhavan comes in the scene. National Award loading for R Madhavan!” The success of ‘Shaitaan’ establishes how the audience goes bonkers when Madhavan aka Maddy turns baddie!
Talking about Madhavan, trade analyst Akshaye Rathie said, “What Maddy has done with ‘Shaitaan’ becomes very exciting because you are measuring it against his last theatrical release ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. So, to go from the affable, the very kind Nambi Narayan in his late 70s and 80s to Vanraj – shows the versatility of a true-blue phenomenal actor. Every genre you can imagine he has done, and each part with elan. That’s what makes him one of the most exciting talents we have.”
While ‘Shaitaan’ continues to hit the bulls eye at the box office, fans are eagerly waiting to see what else Madhavan has in store for them. The actor’s upcoming projects include ‘Adhirshtasaali’ and ‘Test’ in Tamil, and ‘The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair’ in Hindi.
