Help Needy Families Celebrate Diwali, Buy Earthen Diyas to Support Artisans: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to people across the state to extend the joy of Diwali to underprivileged families and ensure that no household is left out of the festive celebrations.

In his Diwali greetings, the Chief Minister urged people to help economically weaker families according to their means and make them part of the festivities. He also called upon residents to purchase earthen lamps, cotton wicks and other locally made products to support potters, artisans and traditional craftsmen.

Yogi said Diwali should not be limited to celebrations within one’s home. Its true spirit lies in spreading happiness and bringing light into the lives of those who may struggle to celebrate the festival because of financial difficulties.

He described Diwali as a festival deeply rooted in India’s Sanatan traditions, spiritual consciousness and the spirit of public welfare. The festival symbolises the victory of light over darkness, truth over falsehood and hope over despair. It commemorates Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his subsequent coronation.

The Chief Minister said buying products made by local artisans would provide financial support to small businesses and help improve the festive season for their families. He particularly encouraged people to give preference to traditional earthen diyas and products associated with pottery and handicrafts.

Referring to Ayodhya’s Deepotsav, Yogi said the annual celebration had given fresh recognition to the city’s traditional Diwali festivities and taken the rich heritage of Sanatan culture to audiences across the world. He said the event had become an expression of public faith, cultural identity and the spiritual legacy associated with Lord Ram.

The Chief Minister also urged people to celebrate Diwali while maintaining cleanliness and showing sensitivity towards the environment. He called for keeping homes, streets and neighbourhoods clean and adopting responsible practices during the festivities.

Drawing inspiration from Lord Ram’s ideals, Yogi asked people to fulfil their responsibilities towards their families, society and the nation.

He prayed that the festival would bring happiness, good health, peace and prosperity to every household and that Uttar Pradesh would continue to progress on the path of development, harmony and peace.
