Gosainganj Police Station Arrests Nine Members of ‘Gujjar Gang’ for Vandalism and Planned Attack

Lucknow: The Gosainganj Police Station team of the Lucknow Police Commissionerate arrested nine alleged members of the so-called “Gujjar Gang” accused of carrying out a planned attack and vandalizing vehicles in the Gosainganj area.

Police officials said one named accused, Azad Rawat, had already been arrested and sent to jail on May 21, 2026. Following further investigation and intelligence gathering, nine more accused were arrested on May 24, 2026.

According to the complaint lodged by the informant, the incident took place on the night of May 19, 2026, when around 25 to 30 unidentified persons allegedly arrived at the complainant’s residence in two pickup vehicles and another four-wheeler armed with sticks, rods, and other weapons. The accused allegedly attacked the property in a planned manner and severely damaged parked vehicles, including an R15 motorcycle, an Apache motorcycle, and a Swift Dzire car.

Police said that when the complainant protested, the accused allegedly abused him, threatened to kill him, and chased him away while warning him against confronting them.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Gosainganj Police Station.

Following the incident, Station House Officer D. K. Singh formed two police teams to ensure quick detection of the case and arrest of the accused. After continuous efforts and surveillance, police arrested the remaining accused based on information received from an informer.

The arrested accused have been identified as Jwala Rawat, Saurabh alias Golu, Sanket alias Lavkush, Mannu alias Manno, Sandeep, Neeraj, Ankit, Shiva Rawat and Shiv Balak.

Police records show that some of the accused already have criminal cases registered against them. Saurabh alias Golu reportedly has a previous criminal case registered at Gosainganj police station, while Neeraj has been previously booked under serious sections related to assault and the POCSO Act.

All accused have been sent for further legal proceedings before the court. The arrests were made by the Gosainganj Police Station police team under the Lucknow Commissionerate.
