Gonda: Marking World Environment Day 2026, Gonda Police launched a special plantation drive to spread awareness about environmental conservation and sustainable living. The initiative was held at the Open Gym and Children’s Park premises of the Reserve Police Lines, where Superintendent of Police Vinit Jaiswal and Dr. Tanvi Jaiswal, Chairperson of Vama Sarathi, planted saplings and reaffirmed their commitment to a greener future.
During the programme, officers and personnel were encouraged to plant more trees and take responsibility for their care and protection. Addressing the gathering, SP Vinit Jaiswal emphasized that environmental conservation has become one of the most pressing needs of the present time. He noted that trees are not merely symbols of greenery but play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, ensuring clean air, conserving water resources, and protecting biodiversity.
Appealing to all citizens, the SP said every individual should plant at least one tree during their lifetime and nurture it responsibly. He stressed that environmental protection should not remain confined to a single day but must become an integral part of everyday life.
A major highlight of the event was the plantation activity carried out under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign. The initiative seeks to promote environmental awareness while encouraging people to honour their mothers through tree planting. Participants enthusiastically joined the campaign by planting saplings and pledging their support for environmental protection.

Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Ajit Kumar Rajak, Reserve Inspector Ajay Pratap Singh, and several police officers and staff members participated in the drive. All attendees took a collective pledge to actively contribute to environmental conservation and enhancement.
The programme conveyed a strong message that environmental protection cannot be achieved through government efforts alone and requires active participation from every section of society. Through this initiative, Gonda Police encouraged citizens to become responsible stewards of nature and contribute towards building a greener, cleaner and more sustainable future for generations to come.
