Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Energy Department has introduced a GIS-based QR code system to assist pilgrims at the Mahakumbh Mela. Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K.Sharma stated that this innovative technology has helped reunite separated families and recover lost belongings.
Over 50,000 electricity poles in the Mela area have been mapped with unique QR codes and assigned specific numbers. Pilgrims can use the pole number or scan the QR code with a smartphone to access their location and report issues by filling out an online form. Assistance is promptly provided through nearby help desks or helplines.
This initiative, combining human effort, machinery, and advanced technology, has been widely appreciated by domestic and international visitors. Pilgrims have praised the state government for this efficient system, which ensures their safety and convenience. The QR code solution has emerged as a vital tool for resolving issues quickly, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernized festival management.
