Lucknow: Lucknow Police have arrested five people, including the prime accused, in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in the Mohanlalganj area. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing drive against serious crimes under the directions of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Aparna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohammad Mushtaq, Additional DCP (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mohanlalganj) Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Station House Officer Ram Babu Singh.
According to police, a complaint was lodged on July 24 stating that the minor had gone missing from her home on July 17. Despite extensive efforts by her family, her whereabouts remained unknown. During the investigation, it was alleged that the victim had been lured away by Durgesh and his wife Khushboo and kept at their residence.
The victim later informed investigators that between July 18 and July 20, Rabia and her husband Vinod allegedly took her on a motorcycle to a hotel in the PGI area, where she was confined. Police said the victim alleged that Rabia introduced her to Dwarka Raidas, who allegedly sexually assaulted her during her stay at the hotel.
Based on the complaint, Mohanlalganj Police registered Case No. 273/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 137(2), 61(2), and 64(2)(m), along with Sections 5(L) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Following the collection of evidence and intelligence inputs, a police team arrested all five accused near Puranpur village on Kisan Path on July 26. The accused have been identified as Dwarka Raidas (70), Vinod Rawat (20), Durgesh Rawat (26), Khushboo (23), and Rabia (18). They were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police said the investigation indicates that the principal accused allegedly committed the sexual assault with the assistance of the co-accused. Investigators allege that the others worked in coordination to lure the minor, transport her to different locations, keep her confined, and facilitate the commission of the offence. The investigation remains ongoing.
