Lucknow: Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Engineers Association, Engineer’s Day and Centenary Year Celebration was organized at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Parikalpa Bhavan Auditorium, Telibagh, Lucknow on the occasion of 164th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of Water Power and Special Guest Brijesh Singh, Minister of State for Public Works Department. Engineer officers of all the engineering departments / corporations / public undertakings of the state were present in large numbers in the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Engr. Vinod Kumar Srivastava, President, UP Engineers Association and the program was conducted by Engr. Ashish Yadav, General Secretary, UP Engineers Association.
The program was inaugurated by lighting a lamp and garlanding the portrait of Bharat Ratna Engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. On this occasion, the chief guest also released the Shatabdi Varsh Special Issue of the magazine published by the Association and the magazine Prajnata published by the Public Works Department.
Water Power Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Swatantra Dev Singh, while heartily welcoming and greeting the nation builders present at the Engineer’s Day function organized by the Uttar Pradesh Engineers Association, said that I remember the excellent engineer Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, who made a significant contribution in the creation of modern India, on his birth anniversary and pay my respects to him. Today’s modern India is moving forward on the path shown by M. Visvesvaraya. Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya was the flag bearer of technology in India.
Swatantra Dev Singh said that you are not just an engineer but the builder of this nation. Engineers are the backbone of the development of any country. Engineers lay the foundation of the development of any country. Whether it is construction of roads, power supply, water management or technological innovation, the role of an engineer is unique in every field.
While congratulating the engineers present at the Engineer’s Day function, Minister of State for Public Works Kunwar Brijesh Singh recalled the glorious history of the engineering community and while highlighting the personality of the country’s great engineer Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, appealed to the engineers to follow his ideals. The Minister of State for Public Works said that our engineers have new strength, new consciousness, on the basis of which they have the ability to make the impossible possible. All of you have a very important contribution in the development of the country’s infrastructure. While working in the field, you also work in conditions like sun, rain, heat, cold. Whenever you work on a project, do it with your best ability and dedication.
Association President Engr. Vinod Kumar Srivastava in his welcome speech welcomed the chief guest and special guests and informed them about the special events in the life of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and expected their encouraging cooperation for placing the momento of Engr. Visvesvaraya prepared by the association in their homes and offices as a source of inspiration for engineering.
On the occasion of the centenary year, the association will make available the 8-inch momento of Engr. Visvesvaraya ji made with the country’s first 3-printed technology to the engineers of all the engineering departments/corporations of the state and this momento is also being demanded by engineer organizations of other states of the country. In the program, Engr. Akhilesh Kumar Sachan, Chief Engineer and Head of Department Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Engr. Yogesh Pawar, Chief Engineer (Development) and Head of Department Public Works Department, Engr. Sandeep Kumar, Chief Engineer (Design and Planning) Irrigation, Engr.
