Lucknow: The Journal of Entrepreneurship (JOE), the flagship peer-reviewed quarterly journal of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, continues to strengthen India’s global presence in entrepreneurship research through its growing international recognition and academic impact.
Published by SAGE Publications, the journal has established itself as a respected global platform for high-quality entrepreneurship research and remains indexed in several leading international abstracting and citation databases.
Edited by Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General of EDII, the journal is currently indexed in Scopus, the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science, the ABDC Journal Quality List, EconLit, ProQuest, EBSCO, and ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes). The journal has achieved an H-index of 37 and a Journal Impact Factor of 2.5, reflecting its growing influence in global academic research.
Established in 1992, the Journal of Entrepreneurship provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, academicians, policymakers, educators, and practitioners worldwide to exchange ideas and advance knowledge on emerging issues in entrepreneurship. The journal places particular emphasis on entrepreneurship in emerging and developing economies, encouraging research that bridges theory, policy, and practice.
The publication features original research papers, conceptual articles, case studies, analytical commentaries, and perspective pieces covering a broad range of subjects, including entrepreneurship theory, entrepreneurial behaviour, business strategy, venture creation and growth, family businesses, social entrepreneurship, international entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The journal also welcomes contributions from diverse disciplines such as economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, and management, while encouraging comparative studies across different countries and cultural contexts. This multidisciplinary approach enables researchers to examine entrepreneurship from multiple perspectives and generate insights that are valuable for both academia and industry.
Highlighting the journal’s growth and contribution over the past three decades, Dr. Sunil Shukla, Editor of the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Director General of EDII, said, “For more than 30 years, the Journal of Entrepreneurship has served as a trusted platform for advancing knowledge in the field. The past year has been particularly significant, with the journal’s H-index increasing from 34 to 37 and its Impact Factor rising from 1.9 to 2.5. At a time when Indian research is gaining greater global recognition, these achievements reflect the growing importance of entrepreneurship research and its vital role in driving economic development and long-term sustainability.”
As entrepreneurship assumes an increasingly central role in the global economy and innovation ecosystem, the Journal of Entrepreneurship continues to provide evidence-based research and critical insights that support informed policymaking, academic excellence, and entrepreneurial development. The journal’s expanding international visibility further reinforces India’s contribution to global entrepreneurship scholarship and strengthens EDII’s position as a leading institution in entrepreneurship education and research.
