Lucknow: Dozens of people joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) at a membership programme held at the party’s state headquarters on Thursday, expressing confidence in the leadership of national president Chaudhary Jayant Singh and the ideology of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The programme was chaired by RLD Uttar Pradesh president Aishwarya Raj Singh in the presence of former MLA Shivkaran Singh. Congress leaders Mohammad Mujahid and Mohammad Siraj, along with senior social workers Gufran Ahmad and V.S. Kamal, led the new members into the party.

Senior RLD leader Jitendra Singh and state president of the party’s labour cell, Maheshpal Dhangar, played a key role in facilitating the induction of people from different backgrounds.

He said the RLD remained committed to the interests of farmers, labourers, young people and other sections of society. The party aims to take Charan Singh’s ideas to the grassroots and raise issues affecting farmers, workers and youth, he added.

The state president expressed confidence that the induction of new members would further strengthen the organisation and expand its reach. He said the party’s membership drive was continuing across the state.
