Gonda: A divisional review meeting of the National Health Mission (NHM) for the Devipatan Division was held under the chairpersonship of Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal, who directed health officials to ensure that quality healthcare services reach every citizen without delay. She made it clear that negligence in the delivery of health services would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that accountability would be fixed wherever lapses are found.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda and Shravasti, along with divisional and district-level health officials. A comprehensive review of key NHM programmes was undertaken, with emphasis on improving healthcare delivery and achieving government targets within the stipulated timeline.
The Commissioner reviewed the progress of maternal and child healthcare services, routine immunisation, institutional deliveries, the Anaemia-Free India campaign, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat), creation of ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and the HPV vaccination campaign.
She instructed officials to achieve 100 per cent immunisation coverage across all districts, expedite the issuance of Ayushman cards and ABHA IDs for eligible beneficiaries, and ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines, doctors and paramedical staff at healthcare facilities. She also stressed that hospitals must provide adequate facilities to patients and their attendants so that no one faces inconvenience while seeking treatment.
The review also focused on maternal mortality, neonatal and infant mortality indicators across the division. The functioning and availability of Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Care (CEmOC) services, First Referral Units (FRUs), Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs), blood banks and blood storage units were assessed in detail.
Directing immediate action, the Commissioner said that FRUs and SNCUs not functioning at full capacity should be made fully operational on priority. She also called for extensive awareness campaigns to maximise HPV vaccination coverage among eligible girls.
The meeting further reviewed the Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, family planning initiatives, urban health programmes and other national health schemes. Nagpal instructed all officials to ensure effective implementation of every healthcare programme in line with government priorities through regular monitoring and timely achievement of targets.
Chief Medical Superintendents, Chief Medical Officers of all four districts and officials associated with the National Health Mission were present during the review meeting.
