Lucknow: A special discussion on the Srimad Bhagavad Gita was organised at the Lucknow campus of Central Sanskrit University, with Aparimeya Shyam Prabhu, Temple President of ISKCON Lucknow, attending as the chief guest.
Addressing faculty members, students and other guests, Aparimeya Shyam Prabhu spoke on various aspects of the Bhagavad Gita and emphasised the spiritual understanding of the self. He said that human beings should recognise themselves as souls rather than merely the physical body and described the individual soul as a part of the Supreme.
He encouraged everyone to read the Bhagavad Gita, describing it as a practical guide for understanding and living life. He also stressed the importance of studying the scripture under the guidance of a qualified guru so that its teachings can be understood in their proper context and applied meaningfully.
He invited the university’s teachers, students and other participants to join an online Zoom discussion held every Sunday, during which one verse of the Bhagavad Gita is discussed in detail.
Expressing his appreciation to the university community, he praised the faculty and students for their efforts to preserve and promote Sanskrit, which he described as an important language of India’s knowledge traditions.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed the main discussion. Aparimeya Shyam Prabhu responded to questions by combining spiritual perspectives with analytical explanations. The programme concluded with the recitation of Vedic mantras.
