DIG Ashok Shukla Launches Plantation Drive at Maizapur Sugar Mill, 13,200 Saplings to Be Planted

Gonda: As part of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ambitious 35-crore Tree Plantation Campaign, Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, Maizapur Unit, launched its plantation drive for the 2026-27 financial year with a target of planting 13,200 saplings.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Devipatan Range, Ashok Shukla (IPS), who planted saplings alongside Circle Officer Dadibal Tiwari and Katra Bazar Station House Officer Manoj Pathak. The plantation included a diverse range of species such as mango, peepal, teak, pakad, jamun, guava, kadamba, arjun and eucalyptus, reflecting the initiative’s focus on enhancing biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Ashok Shukla praised the Maizapur Sugar Mill for its commitment to environmental conservation through the plantation of 13,200 saplings. He described the state government’s 35-crore plantation campaign, inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as a historic initiative aimed at creating a greener and cleaner Uttar Pradesh. He urged citizens to not only plant trees but also ensure their proper care and maintenance so that they grow into healthy, long-lasting assets for future generations.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Chief General Manager Sandeep Agrawal said environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and called upon employees and the community to actively support the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign. He encouraged everyone to plant at least one tree and nurture it as a contribution to environmental protection.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior officials and employees of the sugar mill, including General Managers Mukesh Kumar Jhunjhunwala, P.K. Prabhat, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Gupta, Balendra Singh and Bhanu Pratap Singh. The event concluded with a collective pledge to protect nature and promote a greener future through sustained afforestation efforts.
