CSIR-NBRI Organises Grand Bada Mangal Feast and Tulsi Sapling Distribution Drive in Lucknow

Lucknow: Marking the auspicious occasion of Bada Mangal, CSIR–National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) organised a grand community feast and Tulsi sapling distribution programme at the K.N. Kaul Block premises on Tuesday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from scientists, staff members, and a large number of local residents.

The programme aimed to promote the spirit of service, environmental awareness, and community well-being. Renowned environmentalist Shipra Pathak, popularly known as the “Water Woman of India,” attended the event as the chief guest. She distributed Tulsi saplings among attendees and encouraged people to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles while highlighting the medicinal and environmental importance of Tulsi plants.

CSIR-NBRI Director Dr. A.K. Shasany and social worker Dr. Sarita Satpathy were also present on the occasion. The dignitaries appreciated the initiative for successfully combining faith, social service, and environmental responsibility.

Keeping the intense summer heat in mind, ORS drinks were also distributed among visitors to spread awareness about health and hydration. The initiative was supported by Dhanvantari Seva Nyas and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Ayodhya.

Speaking at the event, Dr. A.K. Shasany said, “Bada Mangal symbolises service, devotion, and faith. Initiatives like Tulsi sapling distribution remind us of our responsibility towards environmental conservation and public welfare. Around 1,000 Tulsi saplings were distributed during today’s programme, making it a meaningful step towards promoting a greener and healthier lifestyle. CSIR-NBRI remains committed to organising such socially and environmentally beneficial initiatives.”

The programme emerged as a unique blend of devotion, social service, public health awareness, and environmental conservation, leaving participants inspired by its message of collective responsibility and sustainable living.
