Lucknow: The CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR) successfully organised a three-day residential training programme on “Air and Water Pollution Monitoring & Modelling using Software Application” from October 7 to 9, bringing together environmental professionals from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards across the country.
The programme focused on strengthening technical expertise in environmental monitoring, pollution assessment and scientific modelling through practical demonstrations and hands-on training.

Participants gained exposure to various sampling equipment, monitoring instruments, real-time analysers and analytical techniques used for collecting, processing and analysing air and water samples. The sessions also demonstrated software applications and computational tools for interpreting pollution data and assessing its potential impact on the environment and public health.

The training provided a platform for exchanging technical knowledge and developing practical skills in pollution monitoring, modelling and control. It also aimed to enhance the capabilities of environmental professionals to assess pollution levels more effectively and respond to emerging environmental challenges.
The initiative underscores the importance of technical capacity-building and the application of scientific tools in strengthening environmental monitoring and pollution management across India.
