Canberra: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan was warmly received in Canberra by Admiral David Johnston AC RAN, Australia’s Chief of Defence Force. This visit marks a significant milestone in the growing defense cooperation between India and Australia.

Admiral Johnston reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to collaborating closely with India to advance regional stability and security. The discussions during General Chauhan’s visit centered on enhancing interoperability, strengthening people-to-people relations, and expanding cooperation with key strategic partners. During the visit, Admiral Johnston and General Chauhan laid a wreath at the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, paying homage to fallen soldiers. The Australian government highlighted that the visit facilitated discussions on shared defense priorities, including maritime domain awareness, reciprocal information sharing, and deployments from each other’s territories.
“We were pleased to welcome General Chauhan to Canberra on his first official visit. His visit underscores the importance of our defense cooperation with India. The four-day official visit, from March 4 to March 7, reflects the growing defense collaboration between India and Australia under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
