Shemaroo TV will begin airing the acclaimed mythological series from September 14 at 7 pm every day. He said he had initially been offered the role of Duryodhana but declined it because he wanted to play Arjuna or Karna, eventually becoming Bhishma. Looking back, he said the decision changed his life and that Bhishma remained the role for which audiences continued to remember him.
Khanna also recalled how families would watch the series together, eventually making its characters a part of people’s lives. He expressed happiness that Shemaroo TV was bringing B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat back to viewers and said he looked forward to seeing the iconic characters return to television.
Gajendra Chauhan, who played Yudhishthira, also recalled his association with the series. He said the significance of Yudhishthira was reflected in the fact that even when the character was not physically present in a scene, his role in the story was often discussed. Chauhan described the return of the series as a special experience because it brings back not only a great story but also characters and memories cherished by audiences for years.
