Jaipur: Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of discrimination and alleging misuse of institutions, including the Election Commission, to target opposition parties.
Addressing a press conference after participating in the “Harmonious Heritage Summit” under the Vision India programme in Jaipur, Yadav said the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) community is united and determined to defeat the BJP in upcoming elections.
He asserted that the Samajwadi Party is committed to promoting harmony, progress, and prosperity in society. “Peace and development come from social cohesion. When there is harmony, there will be brotherhood, equality, and growth,” he said.
Allegations Against BJP and Election Commission
Yadav alleged that the Election Commission was not functioning impartially and was acting under the influence of the BJP. He claimed that during the voter list revision process, attempts were made to manipulate voter data through forged signatures and fraudulent Form-7 submissions to remove names of Samajwadi Party supporters.
He said party workers and PDA volunteers had exposed the alleged irregularities and complaints were filed with the Election Commission of India, but no action had been taken. He further alleged that even forged signatures of party office bearers were used in the process.
According to Yadav, the purification of electoral rolls would only be possible after a change in government, expressing confidence that the PDA community would play a decisive role in defeating the BJP.
Criticism of Governance in Uttar Pradesh
Targeting the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav alleged a rise in illegal activities and drug trade across districts. He questioned the effectiveness of the administration in curbing such issues and warned of worsening conditions if the situation continued.
Samajwadi Party’s Development Record
Highlighting his party’s tenure in power, Yadav said the Samajwadi government had set benchmarks in infrastructure development, citing projects like the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. He noted that the expressway was built in record time and designed to support emergency landings of fighter aircraft.

He also pointed to initiatives such as improved police response systems and distribution of around 20 lakh laptops to students to bridge the digital divide.
Remarks on Heritage and Culture
Yadav accused the BJP of undermining India’s cultural and historical heritage. He alleged that heritage sites like Manikarnika Ghat had been damaged and claimed that attempts were being made to erase historical legacies.
He also referred to Ahilyabai Holkar, alleging that her legacy was being disrespected. He criticized the government for dismissing concerns over such issues.
Support for Religious Leaders
Yadav expressed support for a Shankaracharya, praising his efforts in countering what he described as “fake saints.” He said the Samajwadi Party respects religious leaders and would continue to seek their guidance.
INDIA Alliance and Political Outlook
On national politics, Yadav said the INDIA alliance would grow stronger in Uttar Pradesh. He expressed confidence that opposition unity would challenge the BJP effectively.
The press conference was attended by senior leaders including Rajendra Chaudhary, Rajeev Rai, and Abhishek Mishra.
Reiterating his party’s commitment to social justice and inclusive development, Yadav said, “The people will respond through their votes and bring change in the coming elections.”
