Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma held a public hearing at his residence on Monday and listened to grievances brought by people from different parts of the state. He directed concerned officials to ensure prompt, quality and time-bound resolution of the issues raised.
Residents primarily submitted complaints related to electricity bill corrections, replacement of old and damaged power wires, electricity supply, road cleanliness, sewerage and drinking water. Sharma sought details from officials concerned and instructed them to address issues related to basic public services without delay.
Regarding electricity-related complaints, the minister directed officials to examine billing grievances and make corrections in eligible cases according to rules. He also ordered field inspections in cases involving damaged or deteriorated electrical wires and instructed officials to replace them wherever necessary while ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.
On urban development issues, Sharma directed officials to improve road-cleaning arrangements, ensure permanent solutions to sewerage problems and give priority to complaints concerning drinking water. He stressed that grievance redressal should not be limited to paperwork and that officials must visit the affected locations, assess the actual situation and provide satisfactory solutions to complainants.
Sharma said the purpose of public hearings was to directly listen to citizens and ensure effective resolution of their problems. He said providing reliable electricity, clean roads, functional sewerage systems and adequate drinking water remained important public-service priorities.
He directed officials to work with sensitivity, promptness and accountability and monitor the progress of every complaint received during the hearing. He also emphasised that citizens should not have to make unnecessary visits to government offices to get their genuine grievances resolved.
