AIIMS Rae Bareli Marks 11th National Ayurveda Day

Rae Bareli: The 11th National Ayurveda Day was celebrated at AIIMS Rae Bareli with a series of activities highlighting the relevance of Ayurveda, yoga and healthy living. The programme began with Dhanvantari Puja led by Executive Director Dr Amita Jain. Books on Ayurveda and modern medicine were also worshipped on the occasion.

As part of the celebrations, medicinal plants were distributed among participants, while saplings of sandalwood, tejpat, arjun and sarpagandha were planted on the AIIMS campus.

Addressing patients, Dr Jain highlighted the role of Ayurveda and yoga in managing lifestyle-related conditions such as obesity, diabetes, hypothyroidism and indigestion. She also informed them that patients visiting the AYUSH outpatient department are regularly taught yoga and pranayama.

Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Neeraj Kumar Srivastava said following Ayurvedic principles of daily living could help people maintain good health and stay away from several diseases.

AYUSH Department in-charge Dr Hari Krishna Pareek advised people to use Ayurvedic medicines only after consulting a qualified Ayurvedic physician. He cautioned against self-medication based on information obtained from social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram.

Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Akhilesh Singh, Financial Adviser Colonel U.N. Rai, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Gaurav Trivedi, Nursing College Principal Narendra Pal Singh Chaudhary, Senior Administrative Officer Arvind Shukla and several faculty members, healthcare professionals and yoga and mental health experts attended the programme.
