Agriculture Production Commissioner

Lucknow: Agriculture Production Commissioner  Monica S Garg and Mission Director-Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission  Deepa Ranjan visited the nutrition unit Tejasvi Mahila Prerna Small Industry located in Chinhat development block. He understood the process of nutrition production by the women of self-help groups. The Mission Director told that five types of products are being manufactured by women, Atta Besan Halwa is given to children from 6 months to 3 years, Atta Besan Barfi Premix and Daliya Moong Dal Khichdi are given to children from 3 years to 6 years. Similarly, salty and sweet nutrition is given to pregnant and lactating women.

Regarding the production process, the women of the group told that first the grains are cleaned by machines, then roasted and then ground.  Adeel Abbas Lead Health and Nutrition UP SRLM told that after grinding, the powder is filtered through a sifter and mixed in a blender. The nutrition is fortified by adding the premix powder in the blender itself and then packaging is done through an automatic machine. On this occasion, a short film prepared by the Mission’s technical organization PCI-India on nutrition was also shown.

The Agriculture Production Commissioner was asked about the specifications of the machines. He was informed that the first two units were installed with the financial support of UNWFP. The remaining units have been installed according to the same standards.

On this occasion,  Arvind Kumar Joint Mission Director and  Bipin from State Rural Livelihood Mission, Lucknow as well as BMM  Ankit from District Lucknow level and all the group members from THR Production Unit were present.
