Chandigarh: All India Congress Committee General Secretary, former Union Minister and Sirsa Lok Sabha MP Kumari Selja started the discussion on the budget in Parliament. Demanding the abolition of Agniveer recruitment and legal guarantee of MSP, she accused the central government that your last slogan is to save the chair and loot and shower the plunder on friends, as has been proved by this budget. Other states have been ignored. She raised the issue of MNREGA, Hisar Airport and the nuclear power plant being built in Gorakhpur village of Haryana. Regarding the increasing crimes in Haryana, she said that it was once said that Haryana is the best country in the country, where there is milk and curd, take out some time and definitely come to our Haryana once, now in ten years, BJP has made our Haryana a hideout of goons and miscreants. Now the Jumla government of the state and the centre has destroyed the entire state.
She started the discussion on the budget in the House and lashed out at the government for half an hour. She said that instead of recruiting Agniveers, direct recruitment should have been done in the army, this should be abolished, this is playing with the future of the youth. She also raised the issue of MNREGA workers in the House. She said that there was talk of making Faridabad and Karnal smart cities, what is the condition of these cities today. The work of garbage management in Haryana has come to a complete standstill. She said that the state government had announced to build medical colleges in every district, the government forgot after getting the foundation stone of the medical college in Sirsa laid by Her Excellency the President, not only this, the foundation stone of the Ayush college in Kurukshetra was laid by the Prime Minister himself, but it also forgot that.
Later, regarding the budget, she said that the countrymen were eagerly waiting that maybe something would come out of the Finance Minister’s box for them too, but nothing was found. The dreams of the youth, the hopes of women and the needs of the middle class have been ignored again. Today again the whole of India is forced to think that till when will we keep waiting like this? The government has again cheated the farmers, why is the government running away from the demands of the farmers, no solid guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been given, no relief has been given to debt-ridden farmers, there is no control on the rising prices of diesel, pesticides and fertilizers.
This budget has once again refreshed the wounds of wasted crops for all the food producers of India including Haryana. He said that the youth had a lot of expectations from the budget but the government has only deceived the youth, there is no clear roadmap for creating new employment opportunities, the promise of internship to the youth (promise stolen from the Congress’s manifesto) in which there are such changes that will not be of any benefit). The employment generation schemes are only on paper, nothing is visible in reality. This time also the BJP has given a bundle of disappointment, frustration and neglect in the form of budget to the youth of Haryana, the state leading in unemployment in the country.
She has said that the government has no concrete policy for the safety of women, in the name of women empowerment there are only skilling and hostel schemes. The real problems of women have not been solved. Through this budget, an attempt has been made to indirectly curb the empowerment of all women power including women of Haryana. This budget is also disappointing for the middle class. No relief has been given in income tax, minor deductions have been made for show whose real benefit is not visible. The financial problems of the middle class have not been solved in the budget. The budget which should have become a solution has itself become a problem for every section. All sources of income of all sections are becoming narrow.
Rural development has been ignored in the budget. The basic needs of rural areas have not been paid attention to. Only expenditure on infrastructure, but nothing to improve the rural standard of living. There is no concrete plan for the development of villages.
Kumari Selja said that important issues have been kept silent, SC, ST and OBC classes have been kept out of the budget by the BJP, there is no plan for health, education and social security in the budget. Basic needs of the public have been ignored. This budget has proved to be a disappointing document for the citizens of Haryana and the entire country. Ignoring the interests of the public, only show-off schemes have been opened. There is no hope for Haryana in this budget. Perhaps the Bharatiya Janata Party has presented this budget to take revenge for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, but those people probably do not realize that the people of Haryana will give a befitting reply to this budget in the upcoming assembly elections.
