Deepotsav: Over 2,100 People to Perform Grand Saryu Aarti in Ayodhya

Ayodhya: The banks of the Saryu River in Ayodhya are set to witness a spectacular religious ceremony during this year’s Deepotsav, with more than 2,100 participants expected to perform a grand collective aarti on November 7. Preparations are underway to make the event a memorable milestone, with students from Sanskrit schools rehearsing at the river ghats.

The collective aarti will take place in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Participants will wear identical traditional attire and perform the ritual in a synchronised manner, making it one of the major attractions of the celebrations.

Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi said women from different communities are being encouraged to participate in the ceremony. Women from Dalit and Nishad communities, along with social workers, cultural activists and students of Sanskrit institutions, will take part. The initiative aims to connect diverse sections of society with Ayodhya’s spiritual and cultural heritage and encourage its preservation.

Rajesh Shukla, a teacher at Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, said more than 700 students from various Sanskrit schools would participate in the ritual. They are undergoing regular rehearsals to ensure coordinated performances accompanied by Vedic chants.

The organisers believe the collective aarti will not only add grandeur to Deepotsav but also help connect the younger generation with India’s religious traditions and cultural legacy.
