Lucknow: The Railway Ramlila Dussehra Committee and Bharat Milap Shobha Yatra, Alambagh, staged key episodes from the Ramayana, including Hanuman’s victory over Ahiravan and the final battle between Lord Ram and Ravana, as part of its ongoing Ramlila celebrations.
The evening’s programme featured the Hanuman–Makardhwaj dialogue, Hanuman’s victory in Patalpuri and the climactic killing of Ravana. The performances drew attention to Hanuman’s courage, devotion and determination to rescue Lord Ram and Lakshman from the clutches of Ahiravan.

Following the deaths of his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad, Ravana found himself increasingly isolated. He then summoned his brother Ahiravan for assistance. Using his magical powers, Ahiravan disguised himself as Vibhishan, abducted Ram and Lakshman from their camp and took them to Patalpuri, where he planned to sacrifice them before Goddess Kamada Devi.
Hanuman discovered the plot, reached Patalpuri and confronted Ahiravan. After a dramatic encounter, he killed the demon and rescued Ram and Lakshman, setting the stage for the final confrontation between Ram and Ravana.

The concluding battle culminated in Ravana’s death, bringing the Ramlila narrative to its traditional climax. Among the major attractions were the engaging dialogue between Hanuman and Makardhwaj and the dramatic depiction of Ravana’s ten heads.
The performers included Satyam Yadav as Ram, Harshit Sonkar as Lakshman, Ayush as Sita, Manoj Srivastava as Hanuman, Vansh Srivastava as Makardhwaj, Virendra Sharma as Ravana, Jagjit Singh as Vibhishan and Shivam Yadav as Ahiravan.
The programme formed part of the committee’s Ramlila and Dussehra celebrations in Alambagh, keeping the tradition of presenting episodes from the Ramayana alive through theatrical performances and cultural storytelling.
