Mohammed Nagaman Lateef honours Rakesh Roshan with International Iconic Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Indian cinema

Mumbai: The International Iconic Awards has honoured veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan with the International Iconic Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema. The honour recognises his decades-long journey as an actor, filmmaker and producer and his contribution to mainstream Hindi cinema.

The award has been presented under the 12th edition of the International Iconic Awards, a platform founded by Mohammed Nagaman Lateef. The awards have grown from their early beginnings in Dubai to a larger platform celebrating talent across Bollywood, television, OTT and regional entertainment.

Speaking about honouring Rakesh Roshan, Mohammed Nagaman Lateef said, “Rakesh Roshan ji is someone whose contribution to Indian cinema goes far beyond just a few successful films. He has been part of the industry for decades and has constantly evolved with the changing times. From being an actor to becoming a successful producer and director, his journey is truly inspiring. When we talk about Indian cinema and the people who have contributed to its growth, his name deserves a special place.”

He further added, “Through the International Iconic Awards, our aim has always been to recognise people who have created a lasting impact through their work. Rakesh ji is a perfect example of that. His films have entertained generations and his vision has given Indian cinema some memorable characters, stories and cinematic experiences. It is a privilege for us to honour him with the International Iconic Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Rakesh Roshan has had a career spanning acting, production and direction. He began his career as an assistant director before making his acting debut and subsequently appeared in numerous films. He later established Filmkraft Productions and moved into filmmaking, directing films including Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Karan Arjun, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Koi… Mil Gaya and the Krrish franchise.

His 2000 film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which he directed and produced, introduced Hrithik Roshan to the Hindi film industry and went on to become a major success.

Talking about the importance of celebrating such journeys, Mohammed said, “Awards are not only about celebrating one particular film or one particular year. Some honours are about celebrating the entire journey of an artist. Rakesh Roshan ji’s journey represents dedication, courage and the ability to take risks. He has always tried to bring something different to the audience, and that is what makes his contribution special.”

The International Iconic Awards, founded by Mohammed Nagaman Lateef, has positioned itself as a platform that recognises established as well as emerging talent across different sections of the entertainment industry. The organisation’s official website lists the Lifetime Achievement Award among its special cinema awards.

For Lateef, honouring Rakesh Roshan is also about acknowledging the filmmakers who have helped shape the commercial and popular language of Indian cinema. He said, “Legends like Rakesh ji create a legacy that continues even after the particular film or project is over. That legacy is what we wanted to celebrate through this award. It is our way of saying thank you for the years of entertainment, creativity and contribution to Indian cinema.”
