Lucknow: Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus, inaugurated a two-day International Conference on “Next-Generation Therapeutics: Integrating Nanotechnology with Advanced Drug Discovery Platforms” on Tuesday.
The conference brings together scientists, academicians, clinicians, pharmaceutical researchers, industry professionals, regulatory experts and young investigators from across the globe to deliberate on recent advances and emerging trends in innovative drug discovery and therapeutic development.
The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Shubhini A. Saraf, Director, NIPER Raebareli; Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus; Wg. Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Tiwari (Retd.), Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus; and Prof. (Dr.) Satya Prakash Singh, Principal and Deputy Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The inaugural session was attended by Heads of Institutions and Heads of Departments, conference organising secretaries Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Srivastava, Dr. Shashank Soni and Dr. Rahul Maurya, along with faculty members and students.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus, said that the rapid evolution of nanotechnology, computational drug design, biotechnology and advanced pharmaceutical formulations has transformed the landscape of modern therapeutics. He highlighted that the integration of these technologies offers unprecedented opportunities to improve disease diagnosis, drug delivery and therapeutic efficacy. He said that the conference provides an excellent platform for researchers, scientists, academicians and students to exchange knowledge and explore emerging developments in the field. He encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities presented during the two-day international conference.
Delivering her keynote address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Shubhini A. Saraf emphasised the need to develop affordable medicines that can reach the masses, particularly those at the most disadvantaged levels of society. She said, “In India, where affordability of drugs is also a challenge, we need to cater to the masses, to the person standing last. This will only happen when inexpensive medicines are available.” She stressed that innovation and research are essential to making affordable healthcare a reality.
Prof. Saraf also addressed the challenges involved in translating laboratory discoveries into clinically successful therapies. She discussed emerging areas such as next-generation therapeutics, drug synthesis, photostable quantum dots and organ-on-a-chip technology for nanomedicine validation. She emphasised that the development of effective drug delivery systems for the human body has the potential to transform the current healthcare scenario.
During the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest also released the souvenir of the conference.
The two-day international conference aims to facilitate meaningful scientific discussions, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage young researchers to explore innovative approaches towards the development of safer, more effective and affordable therapeutic solutions.
