Sitapur: Non-profit grassroots education organisation Seekho Sikhao Foundation (SSF), in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), organised a menstrual hygiene orientation workshop for teachers and representatives from 20 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and four government girls’ inter colleges in Sitapur district.
The workshop, held at the District Inspector of Schools Auditorium, aimed to equip educators with essential knowledge about menstrual hygiene and strengthen their role in creating a safe, healthy and supportive environment for adolescent girls in schools.
As part of the initiative, girls will receive menstrual hygiene dignity kits developed by Fabpad. Each kit contains five reusable cloth pads, two undergarments, a washing soap and an instruction booklet. The reusable pads offer a practical and environmentally friendly option for menstrual hygiene management.
The workshop was chaired by Dr Rajendra Singh, District Inspector of Schools, while Dr Gorakhnath Patel, District Basic Education Officer, delivered the keynote address.
Participants were briefed on menstrual hygiene practices and trained to communicate with girls about the subject sensitively and respectfully. They were also encouraged to organise awareness activities at the school level. The session covered the correct use, washing, drying and storage of reusable menstrual hygiene kits.
Manish Singh, Manager, Seekho Sikhao Foundation, thanked AAI for supporting the initiative and said the foundation has been working for the past six years to improve access to quality education and bring sustainable changes to the education system.
Founded in July 2019, SSF works in partnership with the government to address key gaps in education across Uttar Pradesh. Its programmes focus on competency-based education, strengthening community participation and the Rural Youth Fellowship. As of FY 2025-26, the foundation was working across 15 districts, 874 schools, 453 gram panchayats and 44 blocks in Uttar Pradesh.
