Dr. Ritu Trivedi elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, 2026

Lucknow: Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Chief Scientist and Head, Endocrinology Division, CSIR–Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, has been elected as Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (FNA), 2026, in recognition of her significant contributions to translational biomedical research, particularly in the areas of metabolic bone and musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Trivedi’s research has focused on taking scientific discoveries from the laboratory to technologies and products with societal relevance. Two major translational outcomes of her work are REUNION®, developed from Dalbergia sissoo for rapid fracture healing and the management of post-menopausal osteoporosis, and JOINT FRESH®, developed from Spinacia oleracea for osteoarthritis.

Her work exemplifies the journey from discovery to technology and ultimately to societal impact, with an emphasis on developing evidence-based interventions for major health challenges.

Dr. Trivedi is also an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). She is the recipient of the National Technology Excellence Award for Women (2022) by the Department of Science and Technology for excellence in translational research.

She was featured among “75 under 50: Scientists Shaping Today’s India”, a book published by Vigyan Prasar. She was one of only 12 women among the 75 scientists featured in the publication.

Her other recognitions include the Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award (2020), Tata Innovation Award/Fellowship (2019–20) by the Department of Biotechnology, P. Sheel Award (2019) by NASI, STEM Impact Award (2019) for translation of REUNION® into the market, Teotia Memorial Oration Award (2018), Technology Award (2019) for her work on osteoarthritis, Indira Gandhi Samman for contribution in Science (2017), and Technology Award (2016) for her contributions to science.

The election to FNA 2026 adds another significant milestone to Dr. Trivedi’s scientific career and recognises her sustained contributions towards innovative, translational and socially relevant biomedical research.
