Lucknow: The city witnessed a distinctive celebration of Sawan today as Saavni Saloni – Season 4 was held at Hotel Taj, drawing enthusiastic participation from women across age groups.
The event featured Kajris performed in various dialects, with the Kajri Dangal segment reviving the traditional spirit associated with the Sawan season. A specially staged Shiv-Parvati street play was among the highlights, receiving widespread appreciation from attendees.

The evening’s centrepiece, however, was the Ramp Walk, which organisers described as a departure from conventional fashion shows. Speaking on the occasion, Parul Sharma, Founder of Usha Mahesh Foundation, said the participants walked not as fashion models but as “Culture Models,” presenting garments tied to personal memories and family history rather than seasonal trends.
Among the presentations, one participant wore a saree belonging to her mother, said to be 57 years old, while another featured her grandmother’s shawl. Several participants reworked heirloom garments — including mother-in-law’s sarees given contemporary styling, and embroidery from a decades-old kurta repurposed into a new outfit.
Participants ranged in age from 14 to 79 years, organisers noted, reflecting the event’s theme that tradition is not bound by age.

The event also included exhibition stalls showcasing a range of products, along with singing and dancing competitions that saw active participation from attendees.
The programme concluded with the announcement of the Saavni Saloni titles and a Lucky Draw. The titles were awarded to Pallavi Amit, Richa Srivastava, and Fahmeena, while Lakshmi and Pragati Singh were declared winners of the Lucky Draw.
Organisers described the event as more than a cultural programme, calling it a celebration of Sawan, heritage, music, and the collective spirit of women.
Among those present at the event were Sonal, Deepshikha, Deepa, Neha, Ritu, Mamta, Binita, Maya, Pragati, Jagriti, Anju Srivastava, Shobha, Nandana, Manu, Abha, Neelam, Rashmi, Deepti, Mona, Tripti, Aali, Monika, and others.
