Lucknow: To promote science communication in Rajbhasha Hindi, CSIR–Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow organized Scientific Rajbhasha Symposium-2026 on the theme “Drug Research and Development in the Global Perspective”. The symposium highlighted the growing importance of promoting scientific communication in Hindi while discussing contemporary developments in drug discovery, biomedical research, and public health.
The programme was inaugurated under the chairpersonship of Dr. Radha Rangarajan, Director, CSIR-CDRI, who emphasized the significance of disseminating scientific knowledge in Indian languages to make science more accessible and inclusive. She encouraged scientists and researchers to actively contribute to scientific writing and communication in Hindi.
The Chief Guest, Pallav Bagla, Science Editor, NDTV, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Science and Technology in Public Communication: A Necessity for Viksit Bharat.” He highlighted the crucial role of effective science communication in bridging the gap between researchers and society, promoting scientific temper, and supporting India’s vision of becoming a developed nation. He showed some videos of scientific achievements of Indian researchers.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Suman Ray, Scientist-F, CSIR-NIScPR, delivered a lecture on “Drug Research and Development: A Policy Perspective.” She discussed the evolving national and global policy landscape for pharmaceutical research, innovation, and scientific publishing, emphasizing the importance of language in expanding the reach of scientific knowledge.
The symposium also featured a series of scientific talks by CSIR-CDRI scientists covering diverse research areas. Dr. Ritu Trivedi presented the institute’s contributions to bone research, highlighting recent advances in osteoporosis research. Dr. P. N. Yadav spoke on mental health challenges among India’s youth and the need for evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Dr. Ajay Srivastava discussed the role of chemical science in accelerating drug research and transforming laboratory discoveries into healthcare solutions.
The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sanjeev Yadav, Co-Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, speakers, participants, organizing committee, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kashif Hanif, Scientist-F, with Dr. Sanjeev Yadav, Scientist-E, and Shri Bihari Kumar, Rajbhasha Anubhag. The programme was attended by more than 350 students and faculties from more than 20 educational institutes of Lucknow. Engaging interaction sessions and discussion further enriched the event by encouraging dialogue among scientists, researchers, students, and participants on the role of Hindi in scientific communication.
