Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan has directed prosecution officials to ensure effective legal representation and timely presentation of evidence in all cases so that maximum accused persons are convicted. She issued these instructions during the monthly review meeting of prosecution works held at the Police Line auditorium in Gonda.
The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan and Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal. Officials associated with prosecution work, Assistant Prosecution Officers and advocates working in courts participated in the meeting.
During the review, the District Magistrate conducted a detailed assessment of the progress of prosecution cases, status of pending matters, availability of witnesses, presence of accused persons and the ongoing legal proceedings in various courts.
Emphasising the importance of a strong prosecution system, the District Magistrate said that ensuring timely punishment for guilty persons is essential to strengthen law and order and maintain public confidence in the justice system. She stressed that no negligence would be tolerated at any level in prosecution-related work.
She directed all Assistant Prosecution Officers to ensure that evidence is presented before courts within the stipulated time in every case and that the presence of witnesses is properly coordinated. She also instructed prosecution officials and police officers to work in close coordination to improve the success rate of legal proceedings.
The District Magistrate laid special emphasis on cases involving serious crimes and those having a significant impact on society. She directed officials to ensure speedy action in such matters and make dedicated efforts to secure strict punishment for offenders so that respect for the law remains strong among citizens.
Addressing advocates, she instructed them to handle cases with full dedication and responsibility. She said the government’s objective is to ensure that criminals are brought under the ambit of law and punished, thereby strengthening the faith of citizens in the judicial system.
The District Magistrate also directed all officials and advocates to present concrete progress in the next review meeting. During the prosecution review, she clearly stated that if the performance of any advocate is found unsatisfactory, their renewal will not be considered.
The meeting was attended by Chief Revenue Officer Rinki Jaiswal, Additional Superintendents of Police (East and West), Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Gonda Sadar and Mankapur, Senior Prosecution Officer, Assistant Prosecution Officers and other judicial officials.
