Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government held a high-level meeting to review fodder availability for livestock and explore innovative approaches to integrated rural development, with Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi chairing the discussions.
The meeting, held at Committee Room No. 44-Kha in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, focused on ensuring an uninterrupted supply of fodder for cattle and other livestock across the state while formulating long-term strategies to strengthen fodder security.
During the session, scientists and experts from Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, Unnao, presented an integrated development model combining agriculture, animal husbandry, and tourism. The presentation highlighted the potential for creating sustainable rural livelihoods by linking agricultural production with livestock development and tourism-based economic activities.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh and Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh, who attended the meeting, welcomed the proposals and assured the experts that the recommendations would be examined in detail. They said the state government would prepare a roadmap for collaboration after a comprehensive review of the suggestions.
The meeting also discussed the importance of coordinated planning to improve fodder availability, enhance livestock productivity, and support the state’s agricultural economy through innovative and sustainable practices.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary (Animal Husbandry) Mukesh Meshram, Agriculture Principal Secretary Ravindra, Director General, UPCAR, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Agriculture Director Dr. Pankaj Tripathi, along with scientists and experts from Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, Unnao.
The government said the consultation reflects its commitment to strengthening the livestock sector through improved fodder management while encouraging integrated development models that can generate new economic opportunities in rural Uttar Pradesh.
