Congress Gets Major Boost in Uttar Pradesh as Youth Leader Haseeb Khan Joins Party

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Congress has received a significant political boost with the induction of prominent youth leader Haseeb Khan and aspiring candidate Rajesh Shukla, along with hundreds of supporters, into the party. The development comes shortly after the appointment of Rajendra Pal Gautam as the party’s state in-charge and is being viewed as a strategic move to strengthen Congress’ presence in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

According to party sources, Haseeb Khan, who is considered close to Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad, brings with him substantial grassroots support across the Purvanchal region. Political observers believe his entry could help Congress expand its influence among OBC and Scheduled Caste communities, with several smaller social and political groups reportedly expected to extend support to the party in the coming months.

Rise of a Grassroots Leader

Haseeb Khan began his political journey in 2021 with the Janwadi Socialist Party and quickly emerged as an influential organizer in eastern Uttar Pradesh. He played a key role in strengthening the party’s network and was instrumental in securing alliance-linked seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Khan contested the 2022 Assembly election from the Utraula constituency as an alliance candidate and secured nearly 65,000 votes, establishing himself as a significant political force despite not winning the seat. Political analysts credit his strong organizational skills and continuous engagement with local communities for building a durable support base in the region.

Growing Influence Ahead of 2027 Elections

Political circles believe Khan’s growing popularity could make him a strong contender in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, particularly if opposition alliances remain intact. Analysts note that his 2022 vote tally, combined with Congress’ existing support base, could substantially alter electoral dynamics in Utraula and surrounding areas.

Beyond politics, Khan is known for his involvement in social and community initiatives and is said to maintain close ties with several respected religious and social leaders. These connections have further strengthened his influence among various sections of society.

Congress Leadership Watching Closely

Sources indicate that Khan shares cordial relations with Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai and state in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam. His name is reportedly being discussed for a larger organizational role as Congress seeks to promote emerging leaders and expand its grassroots presence across the state.

Criticism of Government on Education Issues

Speaking after joining Congress, Haseeb Khan sharply criticized the central government over recurring examination paper leak incidents. He alleged that repeated leaks had damaged the future of millions of students and weakened confidence in the country’s examination system.

Khan claimed that more than 80 paper leak incidents had occurred during recent years and accused authorities of failing to adequately address concerns regarding examination integrity. He also questioned the functioning of the National Testing Agency, arguing that the credibility of the education system had been adversely affected.

Political observers say Khan’s entry reflects Congress’ ongoing efforts to attract young regional leaders and strengthen its organizational structure ahead of upcoming electoral contests in Uttar Pradesh.
